These 2D and 3D cellular detonation calculations won the Gordon Bell Prize at Supercomputing 2000. Here is the winning paper bell.pdf. Here are some of the images and movies from the 3D runs. The composition is pure carbon and the density is 1e7 g/cm**3. A real detonation has a rich cellular structure quite unlike the simple 1D picture. Main Features:
